‘Managing squatters’ plan in works: DCM

Dr Joachim said MPS’s future plans are to increase the number of engagements with the community, especially property owners, to provide an understanding of the assessment rates and land cess so that the collection increases.
Kota Kinabalu: The Local Government and Housing Ministry (KKTP) is currently drafting a framework to coordinate efforts in managing squatters in Sabah, that has been prepared before.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said a series of meetings and discussions have been held by the Special Committee and Technical Committee to address the issue.
They expect a clearer management plan by including a “lock figure”, an action plan and a timeline for the squatter management to be finalised and presented to the State Cabinet for approval.
Dr Joachim said this to a Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan during his winding up speech on his Ministry at the State Legislative Assembly, here, recently.
