Weightlifters impress SWA boss

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah State Weightlifting Championship 2023 was successfully held at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex weightlifting gym over the weekend.

The three-day competition was organised by Sabah Weightlifting Association and its president Philip Gisan said they were very impressed with the performance of the 50 athletes from Kota Kinabalu, Tambunan, Papar, Tuaran, Malaysia Sports School Sabah and SMK Peter Mojuntin who took part. 

He expressed his gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry for their financial support through Sabah Sports Council and Sabah Sports Board for the supply of equipment.

He also thanked Sabah Institute of Sport and all the coaches and officials in their effort to make the competition a success.

Philip had earlier said the main aim of staging the tournament was for State body to evaluate the performance of the State Sukma and back up athletes as well as the effectiveness of their training programme.
