Toro Surf Attack returns this week

Surfing and beach enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend.
Kota Kinabalu: The much-anticipated Toro Surf Attack 2023 and Surf & Beach Festival returns this week at Karambunai Beach.
Courtesy of the West End Surfing Club, the event kicks off with registration on Nov 29, followed by the heat draw on Dec 1.
ADVERTISEMENT The main event will take place from Dec 2 to 3, according to Event Director Shafik.
The surfers from Karambunai are a dedicated group of local enthusiasts consistently promoting the surfing culture.
They have initiated surfing classes, organised events, participated in local and international competitions, and engaged in community work.
The upcoming surfing event is supported by Rip Curl, along with the Sabah Surfing Association (SSA), and officially sanctioned by the Persatuan Luncur Ombak Malaysia (PLOM).
ADVERTISEMENT Surfers will be judged by International Surfing Association (ISA)-certified judges.
“The points accumulated from this event will be included in the PLOM national ranking system,” he said.

Other main sponsors include Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai and ASK Creative Printing Services.
“This collective effort aims to celebrate the surf community from around the globe and will hopefully boost local community-based tourism,” he said.
Visitors will be treated to a myriad of side attractions, including the beach bazaar, sukan kampung, sunset surf music, and many more.
The event promises an exhilarating experience for the general public, local, and international surfers.
