With the theme “Bringing the World to Sabah,” the 18-day pageant from Nov 10 to 27 will see delegates engage in promotional visits to numerous tourist attractions in Sabah such as the Floating Mosque and Monsopiad Heritage Village.

The beauties are also slated to help Sabah set three records under the Malaysia Book of Records, namely the “Most Number of Nations in a Tree Planting Event” at Kawang Forest Reserve, Papar.

The other two records are the “Most Number of Nations in a Coffee Making Event” at Yit Foh Coffee Park, Tenom and the “Most Number of Nations in a Palm Print Event” at Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort.

Miss Tourism Pageant Founder Tan Sri Danny Ooi said the 44 delegates will make social media postings on their experiences every day leading up to the coronation night, which will put Sabah on the global map and increase the State’s exposure to the world.

“The 44 beauty queens cumulatively have more than eight million views online. Imagine the amount of publicity it will give to Sabah just from this event. This is what Miss Tourism is about,” he said during the pageant’s press conference at The Palace Hotel, here, Tuesday.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew commended the Miss Tourism International Organisation for their commitment to promoting tourism, cultural exchange and environment conservation.

“To MTI2023 delegates, we are delighted to have you here with us. As you embark on this incredible journey, we hope you will embrace Sabah’s diversity,” she said in her speech read by her representative Deputy Permanent Secretary I Alesia Sion.
