Need to rectify weaknesses in defence
Despite a thunderbolt from Gary Robbart in the 78th minute to make it 2-3, Sabah FC were unable to find a way past the stubborn Haiphong FC defence in the remaining minutes, and they were able to hold out for a home victory on a night when three more points for Sabah FC would have left us with one foot in the next round.
Kota Kinabalu: SABAH FC lost their footing after the 1-3 away loss to Haiphong FC in their third match of the AFC Cup competition held at Lach Tray Stadium in Vietnam last Wednesday.

Memories of their 5-0 thrashing of PSM Makasar in the previous match faded as the spirit of the team basically went down after conceding two early goals within the first 20 minutes of the match.

There was no doubt that Haiphong FC with the support of their home fans started more aggressively.

They were rewarded with a two-goal cushion at half time as a result of our leaky defence.
