CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman, is confident the Unity Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will bring political stability to the country and Sabah, in particular.

“This is something special to unite Malaysians. We in Sabah really need this kind of atmosphere because it can give very good hope to Sabah, especially in terms of economy and development, given that Sabah is a relatively large state. “This is our goal. I am confident that the Unity Government will be a strong government and a government expected by the people of various races in this country,” he said on Dec 16.

Abang Johari said his coalition prioritised a stable federal government leading to strong economic growth, which was why it signed on to the memorandum of understanding involving the parties in the unity government.

“We trust [Anwar] to pursue our development agenda...” he said. Besides Hajiji, the Chairman and Secretaries General of the five coalitions witnessed the occasion namely Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Deputy Prime Minister, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Openg and Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also GRS Secretary-General also signed.

The GRS is one of the five main coalitions that support the Unity Government. The rest are Pakatan Harapan (PH), BN, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Warisan.
