RANAU: The Bersatu Division here automatically dissolved following Deputy Sabah Bersatu Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun’s decision to leave Bersatu (PPBM).
Masidi is also Head of Ranau Bersatu. The decision was made in a meeting at the People’s Service Center Office of Karanaan.
Masidi said the decision had been communicated to the party president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, Secretary General.
“We joined Bersatu in a good way and of course when we decide to leave, it will definitely be in a good way.
“We respect and thank Bersatu for all its services to us, but this action needs to be taken to ensure political stability and the continued development of this state,” he said.
In TAWAU, Apas Assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said Bersatu Sabah’s decision to leave the party was made after considering the current political landscape of Malaysia, especially Sabah.
He said it was based on the fact that it can no longer be defended to remain the status quo.
This is because at the Federal Government level, Bersatu is the opposition, while the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has pledged to support the Unity Government.
“Sabah wants a political stability and unity,” Nizam, who is also Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, said in supporting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor’s move to leave Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
He said the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional (GRS-BN) led State Government took into account the Agong’s advice that the best consideration was for the formation of a Unity Government at the federal level.
“Through GRS, we can voice the interests of Sabah and the states of Borneo in Malaysia... We are confident that this decision is the best for unity and political stability in Sabah,” he said.
Nizam added that their commitment with Sarawak as the Borneo Bloc is to voice the aspirations of the people and to see that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to be fully implemented.
