Sanusi: 18 BN MPs have declared support for Muhyiddin as PM

Kuala Lumpur: PAS election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has claimed that at least 18 Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs support Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister candidate.
“Muhyiddin will be sworn in as the 10th prime minister at Istana Negara at 4pm today,” he said at the Kedah PN thanksgiving Ceremony at the PAS Kedah Complex last night, according to a report from Sinar Harian.

“From what I understand, there are already 18 (BN MPs) who have said that they support being with PN to form the government.
“I hope that we all pray that the list of names will be sent to Yang di-Pertuan Agong before 2pm. God willing, the Prime Minister’s swearing-in ceremony will happen at 4pm,” he was quoted saying.
He reportedly urged everyone to pray that the process goes smoothly so that the country can become clean and stable with a government that is concerned for the welfare of its people.
The results of the 15th general elections (GE15) showed that the Islamist party had gained massive support, becoming the largest party with 44 MPs.

PN gained 73 seats, trailing behind Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) 81, but Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg yesterday announced his party’s cooperation with the Muslim-Malay coalition as well as with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to form the new federal government.
He said GPS has also agreed to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be the 10th prime minister.

A simple majority of 112 seats is required to form the government.
