SANDAKAN: The State Cabinet has agreed to rename the Special Tasks Ministry as the Special Tasks and Coordination Ministry with immediate effect.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor said the decision was reached on Oct. 5 to recognise the Ministry’s role so far in coordinating education and Islamic affairs in the state.

“Hopefully with this and in conjunction with this glorious day, the Special Tasks and Coordination Ministry will continue to work hard to advance matters related to education and Islam in this state,” he said, in conjunction with the Sabah Maulidur Rasul 2022 celebration officiated by Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the Sandakan Community Hall, Sunday.

Hajiji said the self-reliance of Prophet Muhammad should be emulated by Muslims, especially the young.

He said, since his teenage years, the Prophet learned to be independent by herding goats and trading to support his life.

“All that the Messenger of God did was an effort to reduce life’s dependence on others, in addition to not wanting to cause trouble and hoping for the mercy of those around him.

“Therefore, in accordance with the image of the birth and message of the Prophet SAW as a bearer of grace that drives change and renewal, Muslims today should have determination and new methods in facing the current challenges.

“Among other things, the determination and method in question is to have the ability to work hard and be independent to avoid dependence on others,” he said.

He said Muslims also need to continue learning, mastering the latest knowledge and skills while appreciating the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah to avoid going backwards. “Be aware that the glory or failure of the country depends on how you shape it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hajiji said the principle of unity must continue to be the core of the strength and dignity in the Muslim community as building unity is one of the most important sunnahs that the Prophet SAW has bequeathed to his people.

“The Government will continue to strive to prosper the State, develop the economy and unite the people. Thus, in facing the aspirations of change and reform, it should also be oriented towards the interests of the people.

“We can’t waste time getting stuck and entertaining arguments in our efforts and serving the people. On the other hand, we need to continue committing to focusing our energies and efforts on planning the agenda of developing this state and human capital with quality and integrity as well as being creative and innovative for the benefit of the people.

“For that purpose, various policies, initiatives and incentives have been and will be planned by the government through the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan to ensure that no Malaysian in Sabah is left behind in enjoying the blessings and prosperity of the country,” he said.

He also wants the theme of this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, which is the “Malaysian Family as the Catalyst of Prosperity”, to be used as a tool to strengthen unity among Malaysian families in the state.

“This theme is very suitable for us in Sabah, a Malaysian family that consists of various races and religions but is still able to maintain unity and unite for the sake of the peace and prosperity of this state,” he said.
