BELURAN: The Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Jelajah Kami Prihatin programme in Sandakan is regarded as one of the most effective at reaching out to the poor, particularly in rural areas.

The notion of the Malaysian Family, started by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, is also in sync with it, according to Labuk Assemblyman Samad Jambri.

“The launch of our Jelajah Kami Prihatin programme comes just in time to support the government’s initiatives to help the least fortunate.

“Additionally, by making this effort, RTM is also able to gather information on local issues and living conditions, which it may then present to the appropriate authorities,” he said. In addition, this programme provides the finest setting for enhancing the collaboration and ties between local authorities, RTM, and the community.

When officiating the Jelajah Kami Prihatin RTM Sandakan 2022 Programme at Dataran Pentas Terbuka Labuk, here, on Sunday, the Assistant Minister for Rural Development said, “Indirectly, it is also a catalyst for continued cooperation in ensuring that the policies and programmes implemented by the government can be communicated and known to the people.”

Also present were Beluran District Officer, Roger Appolonius, Labuk Community Development Leader, Rafael Lindan, Beluran Parliament Office Liaison Officer, Datu Japaruddin Datu Basaruddin representing Beluran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, Beluran District Police Chief, Supt. Kasim Muda, Beluran Welfare Officer, Asmad Nasir, Sandakan Unity Officer, Jambri Giau and Beluran Information Officer, Melanie Marcellina J.Kinjauan.

Samad also visited several nursing institutions for the elderly and bedridden locals to distribute donations, along with Sandakan RTM (Sandakanfm) employees and officers from the Welfare Services Department.

The Jelajah Kami Prihatin Programme included sales of local goods, performances by Sandakan artists, agency exhibitions, and support for people in need.

In addition to being further expanded to more rural areas in Sabah, Samad believes that the Jelajah Kami Prihatin RTM Sandakan Programme would continue to be implemented in the future to assist the less fortunate.

In addition, he said, “I hope that other parties will follow RTM’s efforts in adopting activities like going out to the field to be kind to the people. Together, we work with government agencies and non-governmental organisations to make the programme a success.

According to Samad, Sandakanfm also served as a conduit for the distribution of government information to the populace, even those living in rural areas.

It has not only assisted government representatives in disseminating every action carried out through its Current Affairs News Section and Planning Unit, but it has also developed positive cooperation to date.

Meanwhile, Sabah Broadcasting Director, Zulkefli Mohd in his speech presented by Sandakanfm Manager, Sugiman Rafai said, the programme is their corporate social responsibility programme under the Jelajah Keluarga Malaysia Programme organised by RTM.

He said it is a continuation of the Jelajah Ramadan and Jelajah Raikan Syawal programmes previously held in Kinabatangan. The programme is also implemented by 34 RTM radio stations nationwide including Sandakanfm.

The goal, according to him, is to help those who are less fortunate by raising funds from strategic partners and contributors and by extending assistance in keeping with the Malaysian family spirit. It also includes educating the public about the value of awareness and caring.

By interacting with viewers and listeners of RTM radio and television channels, this programme’s organisation serves as a platform for popularising RTM.
