Robbing e-hailing driver: IMM13 holder charged

Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old Filipino was charged with robbing a female e-hailing (Maxim) driver and fleeing with her Perodua Bezza.Omar Boy, an IMM13 holder, appeared before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to face the charge against him on Friday.

Earlier, Omar had admitted to the charge against him but when the facts of the case was read, he disputed some of the facts and that the court rejected his guilty plea.
He disputed the facts where he threatened the alleged victim with the words, “saya ada pisau, kalau tidak mau ikut arahan saya, saya tikam kamu (I have a knife, if don’t follow my instruction, I will stab you).”
Omar informed the court that he did not say the words to the alleged victim.
Omar is accused of robbing one Nor Isnarezam Zahari, 32, and fled with her vehicle at 11.50pm on March 26 this year along Jalan Sulaman, near here.

The charge stated that while taking off the vehicle, Omar had voluntarily caused hurt and fear to Nor Isnarezam.
The offence, under Section 392 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 14 years and whipping, on conviction.

The prosecution then applied for another date and objected bail for Omar.
However, Omar asked for bail but was rejected by the court.
The court set June 10 for case management and ordered Omar to be remanded further pending the date.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Tham Pou Jin appeared for the prosecution while Omar was not represented.
