Kota Kinabalu: British High Commissioner to Malaysia Charles Hay said that British education is part of the UK’s soft power.
“In terms of soft power, one of the most important things we have is the Chevening Scholarship, and Malaysia gets more scholarships per head of population than any other countries. This year we are sending 40, or so, young Malaysians to go and study master’s degrees in the UK funded by the British Government.

“We are very, very keen to encourage more from Sabah and Sarawak. We have had excellent applicants from Sabah and Sarawak in the past. If your newspaper can encourage your readers to apply, that would be wonderful. We try to pick leaders of the future,” Hay said.
