190 Petronas gas stoves, cylinders for Pitas victims

Kota Kinabalu: Petronas contributed 190 cooking gas cylinders and stoves to victims of the recent flood in Pitas, under the company’s Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme.The contribution was handed over at Dewan Mini, Pitas District Office, by Pitas Assistant District Officer Johari Abdullah, District Welfare Officer Aminah Antong and representatives of local leaders.

The distribution to the rest of the recipients would be coordinated by the District Welfare Department, assisted by members of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteer Corp (Rela), and Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).
Head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan, Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab, said Petronas as well as its CSR arm, Yayasan Petronas, have been supporting flood relief efforts through the Sentuhan Kasih Disaster Relief Programme in collaboration with various departments and agencies.
“It is our hope that these contributions will help ease some of the burden borne by those affected by the floods,” she said.
This is Petronas’ latest contribution to flood victims in Pitas after the delivery of 1,000 relief packages containing food items, hygiene kits and blankets last month.

Petronas has also distributed 600 aid packages to flood victims in the district and neighbouring Kota Marudu in January.
