Kota Kinabalu: Indonesians in Sabah were urged to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) implemented by the Malaysian Government.

This came from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kota Kinabalu, Rafail Walangitan said compliance to the SOP was very important to curb the growing number of Covid-19 cases.

“In Sabah, there are 167,000 Indonesians registered to work here. The virus does not recognise race, religion or age and anyone is easily infected.

“With this large number, we have to adhere to the established health protocols to take care of ourselves for the sake of our family as well as the community.

“We hope the pandemic will be over and the economy will recover soon,” he told the media after paying a courtesy call on the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Seri Kinabalu, here, Tuesday.

He also informed that KJRI has also organised a health protocol to ensure that the SOP is always complied with by Indonesians.

Rafail, who commenced his duties on February 14, took over from the Acting KJRI, Muhammad Muhsinin Dolisada.

He was also accompanied during visit by his wife, Oryza Sativa, Consul of the Social and Cultural Education Division, Debbi Oktarossa, Consul of Consular Function II, Renny Meirina and Consul of Economic Function I, Muhammad Muhsinin.
