RM300,000 false claims: Ex-college director held
Kota Kinabalu: A former director of a private college here has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly making fake claims amounting to RM300,000.

The man in his 40s had his statement recorded at the MACC office, here, at 10am, Monday.

He allegedly made three fake claims to a government agency here in 2018, amounting to RM300,000.

The claims were allegedly submitted for the students’ allowances in the programmes, which received full attendance, but purportedly had never taken place.

Sabah MACC Director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest in a statement Monday, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said there is no remand application, and the man was released the same day after providing his statement.

“The man was released on a RM5,000 bail with a surety. The suspect will be charged in Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court at a later date.”
