KAMPUNG Sugud in Penampang experienced a catastrophic mud flood that filled numerous houses with mud and sand on Sept 15, 2021.The catastrophic event destroyed everything inside the houses, swept cars into the rivers – saddening everyone with utter despair and an overwhelming sense of loss.

While the mudfloods caught Sugud residents by surprise, residents in other parts of the west coast of Sabah were shocked by a video clip showing a car that was swept away while it was attempting to cross the Sinulihan river in Jalan Kionsom Lama, Inanam.
