KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a civil servant for abusing his position by giving several contracts worth RM36,000 to members of his family.
The man, in his 40s, was detained at the Sabah MACC Office at 12.15pm, Sunday.

State MACC director S. Karunanithy, when contacted, confirmed the detention.
He said the suspect was detained for giving several contracts to supply and repair information and communications technology (ICT) equipment as well as the supply of food totalling more than RM36,000 to his family members.
“He will be brought before the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court tomorrow (Monday),” he said.
“I am disappointed because there are still government servants who use their positions for self-interest by giving contracts to family members, which is an offence under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, despite reminders given,” he said.
