Kota Kinabalu: Three government servants were charged with asking and receiving bribe of RM600.Tonny Ramlee, 40, Mohamad Nazri Rabani, 38, and Rosdeh Likum, 41, pleaded not guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat, Friday.

On the first count, Tonny, Nazri and Rosdeh, all of them working with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP), are accused of asking bribe from Chin Hau Jett, 36, as an inducement not to take action against Jack Trading which committed an offence under the Price Control Order 1993.
The charge stated that the trio allegedly asked the bribe from Chin, who was the owner of the shop, between 12.25pm to 12.50pm on July 14, 2017 at the premises in Beaufort.
Nazri
The offence under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and fine of five times the amount involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.
On the second count, the trio allegedly accepted the bribe from Chin for the same purpose at the same place and time.

The court set Aug 10 for case management and released the trio on bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in one local surety each.
The trio were also ordered to report to the MACC’s office once in two months as well as their passports, if any, to be impounded by the court.

They were also warned not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses.
