TAWAU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau will hold a blood donation drive again at SJK(c) Yuk Chin’s hall on June 20-21 to assist blood shortage at Tawau hospital blood bank. Its chairman Datuk Dr Lim Teck Kiong said the blood donation drive would be held from 7.30am until 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Lim said many people were worried about donating blood at the blood bank of Tawau hospital due to the outbreak of Covid-19 since March, which caused the blood bank to experience shortage.
So, to allay the donors fears of going to the hospital to donate, the federation decided to conduct the blood donation programme at the school hall.
Lim said donors need not worry because strict Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) will be applied. Donors will be given goodie bag.
The federation has invited Tawau Rela, the 516th regiment of Territory Army and the 46 Chinese Associations in the federation to participate in the blood drive.
On June 6-7, the federation harvested a total of 279 pints of blood.
