SIPITANG: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Information Chief Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob hoped community leaders here will not be influenced by the political turmoil.

He reminded Village Community Management Council (MPKK), Village Heads, native court heads and representatives to continue to perform their duties and responsibilities in serving the community.

The State Education and Innovation Minister said this during a special meeting with supporters of the Pakatan Harapan components comprising Warisan, Keadilan, Upko and Amanah held at the Sipitang Multipurpose Hall, here, Sunday.
The Sindumin Assemblyman pointed out that the State’s political history initially did not allow Parti Bersatu (PPBM) to enter Sabah as it is the State Government’s stand because it is feared that it will divide the party especially in Muslim areas in Sabah.

By the latest actual performance for September 2025, the total anticipated contract value awarded to Sabahan companies hit RM1.7 billion.
“But Bersatu eventually came into Sabah. Umno leaders saw the opportunity to join Bersatu because they see that in Kuala Lumpur there are Bersatu leaders who are ministers. This is a test for them,” he said. “At State level, we in Warisan are not a component of PH but we lead other parties together with PH and we can speak out at Federal level at that time.

“The same goes for Sarawak who chose not to join, and they continued to be the opposition bloc in Parliament and government themselves,” said Dr Yusof. He said that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the age of 94 has vast experience and is still sane in mind, has a specific agenda to improve the country.

“Dr Mahathir’s agenda is very clear which is to improve the past governance which has done a lot of kleptocracy involving 1MDB and Tabung Haji issues, among others, which need to be fixed,” he said. Dr Yusof called on Warisan supporters at grassroots level to continue to strengthen the party and asked them not to be divided in the face of the current political situation. He also denied allegations circulated on a Facebook post which saw what appeared to be the State Secretary’s circular of not allowing officials from attending the Prime Minister’s briefing.

“It is not true that the initial approval was approved for 10 attendees but after consideration only one person was required to attend,” he said. He reminded the people not to believe in such posts but instead they should be wise in examining every issue. At the end of the event, Warisan and PH components pledged loyalty to the party. Close to 1,000 Warisan Sipitang and Beaufort supporters at grassroots level attended the ceremony together with division leaders from Keadilan, Upko and Amanah , except for DAP.
