TELEKOM Malaysia (TM) Bhd has attended to a damaged overhead line at one section of the road leading to Kg Kitobu in Inanam.

A TM spokesman said the cable was replaced as it was found to have been snapped in two.

He the telephone pole supporting this wire had also been set aright to prevent it from falling over.

“It took almost a month to complete this work as we encountered some logistical difficulties,” he said on March 2.

He was responding to a TM subscriber’s dissatisfaction over the telecommunication problems she had been experiencing in the village.

She said that her phone and Internet services had been out of order since before the Chinese New Year Public holidays in January.

The individual admitted that he was fed up of repeatedly having to contact TM staff about these telecommunication woes.

The spokesman apologised, on behalf of TM, for the inconvenience caused by the delay.

He urged subscribers to report any irregularities involving TM infrastructure in their areas, including the firm’s overhead lines and telephone poles, directly to the company.

“This will allow us to deal with these problems as soon as possible.” LUCY of Inanam said a pole and an overhead line was knocked down prior to the outage.

“I suspect that the cable might have snagged on the top of a passing lorry. It may snapped in two as a result,” she said.

“Me and my neighbours have been unable to use of phones, faxes and Internet since the incident.” She claimed to have lodged multiple complaints with the TM’s 100 – Customer Assistance – staff when she first noticed the damaged pole and cable.

“I was assured that this problem would be attended to promptly.”

Lucy said she was told to be patient, each time she contacted them to find out what had been done. “At one point, I was even asked to contact the contractor tasked with restoring my telecommunication services.

“The individual claimed the new cable he had requisitioned had yet to arrive.” (SS)
