TAWAU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau (FCAT) together with Tawau Municipal Council (TMC), government agencies and schools launched a ‘Spiritual Signature’ campaign Monday morning and intended to get 50,000 signatures on the Covid-19 epidemic by March 15.
Chairman of FCAT, Datuk Dr Lim Teck Kiong said the campaign was launched by the President of TMC, Datuk Ir. Amrullah Kamal with more than 500 participants at the open space behind the TMC building, here.
Lim said the ‘Spiritual Signature’ banners consisting 1,256 lattices each also have been distributed to seven Chinese primary schools, police, Tawau hospital, 516th of Territorial Army Regiment and government agencies.
Meanwhile, Amrullah also gave a big thumbs up to FCAT for the initiative that cannot be valued with money. It was a spiritual effort to inspire the inner strength of China citizens fight the coronavirus. He hoped they (China) could continue to be patient and stay strong in overcoming this outbreak.
According to him, the Chinese Consulate-General in Kota Kinabalu will attend a ceremony hand over ‘Spiritual Signature’ banner at the open space behind the TMC building at 8.30am on March 15. Also present were district police chief ACP Peter Umbuas and the deputy president of TMC, Koh Kian Leong. – Christy Chok
