PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has recorded its 15th positive novel coronavirus case in a 59-year-old Chinese national who entered the country from Singapore with her family on Jan 21.

The woman, from the Chinese city of Wuhan at the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, began to have fever on Jan 26 but she only took medicines from a pharmacy near where she was lodging, said a press release from the Ministry of Health.

The woman was scheduled to return to China on a flight from Johor Bahru on Feb 4 but later delayed her travel although her son and daughter-in-law flew home that day.

On Feb 5, the woman was still unwell despite having finished all her medicines but health authorities managed to refer her to hospital after being alerted by the management of the lodging place where she was staying.

The woman tested positive to the virus on Thursday, bringing the total number of positive cases in Malaysia to 15, while her husband, 66, also confined to an isolation ward at the hospital, has not shown any symptoms and is still awaiting his test results.
