Musa: Adopt culture of making schools part of your lives

PAPAR: Education development in the country is always a main priority of the government to produce quality human capital who will be the future leaders of the nation.Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said empowering the vital sector does not only focus on improving the delivery and teaching system but also covers enhancing and upgrading basic facilities of schools in the nation.He said the Federal government has allocated a total of RM56 billion for education development as announced in the National Budget 2015 to ensure national education continues to be strengthened in line with the Education Development Blueprint (PPPM) 2013 – 2025.

"Apart from the huge funds, the government also maintains various schooling aid to help lessen parents' financial burden. "In fact, the efforts to build and upgrade schools in the country are still continued to cater to the increasing number of students every year," he said.Musa said this at the opening of a three-in-one function, namely, presenting schooling aid under the Back To School programme, mass circumcision and 'Barbers on Wheel' programme at a multipurpose hall here on Monday.Umno Papar Divisional Chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail who is also Pantai Manis assemblyman delivered Musa's speech at the event.A total of 1,163 pupils from primary schools here received school uniforms, school shoes and school bags during the event and about 100 boys underwent the circumcision.

The event was jointly organised by the Service Centre of Papar MP together with Papar Education office, PLUS Malaysia Berhad and Umno Papar Puteri and Youth.Also present were Works Deputy Minister cum Papar MP Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, State Deputy Speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun, PLUS Malaysia Berhad Chairman Mohd Fuad Khusairi and Papar District Officer Siriman MF Basir.

Musa also called on the people in Sabah to adopt a culture of making schools part of their lives as schools are the place for their children to get education and shape their future.He said parents need to work together with the schools so that they would be in the know about their children's academic performance and find ways to address their weaknesses.At the same time, he said the schools also need to adopt a community-friendly approach with the society so that any activity organised will get the support and assistance from the parents.Meanwhile, Rosnah said big government-linked companies and corporate bodies should emulate the Plus Malaysia Berhad which is a subsidiary company of Perbadanan Khazanah Harta and also the biggest highway concessionaire company in the country for its effort to fully sponsor schooling items to the 1,163 pupils here.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
