Five houses in L Datu razed

LAHAD DATU: Swift action by the Fire and Rescue Department managed to prevent a fire from spreading and causing further destruction at Kg Jalan Tengah Nipah, Kg Desa Bajau, here, Friday.
Although the fire was brought under control, a spokesperson said five squatter houses were destroyed.

He said a team of eight personnel led by Abu Bakar Taraji rushed to the scene, located seven kilometres away, after receiving a distress call at 10.16am.
The operation ended at 12.28pm. No casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, in BELURAN, fire destroyed a 10-door kongsi at the Kedau Lung Manis Estate Friday evening, according to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department.
No one was injured in the incident, which also destroyed a motorcycle.

The Fire and Rescue Department said it received a call at 4.48pm and a team of firefighters from the Beluran Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location about 45km away from the station.
