Sandakan deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said the policemen were still allowed to carry out their duties despite the probe.
“We have our procedures for cases like this, they won’t be suspended until the need arises,” he said without elaborating further.
He also did not reveal how many of them were on duty that day, or what the ranks of the policemen were.
Supt Fuad said roadblocks had been set up while a round-the-clock operation was being conducted to find him.
