Advice to Indonesians
TAWAU: Indonesian citizen in the district, Kunak, Semporna, Lahad Datu and surrounding areas were reminded not to be deceived by the amnesty and whitening programmes as well as registration of illegal immigrants Card for a RM800 fee.

The Indonesia Republic Consulate (KRI) here in its statement on Friday said it has been in contact with the Immigration Department, the Labour Department and other authorities which confirmed that the programme was incorrect and a scam.

The official statement also mention that until now, the Malaysia government, especially Sabah has yet to issue instruction on the said programme after the last one being held in 2017-2018, which known as the ‘Rehiring’ programme.

The fraudsters demanded a sum of RM800 by targeting Indonesians and illegal immigrants in the urban areas, particularly in the food outlets, rural area and farms, the statement stated.

The KRI here urged their people in Sabah to be cautious of the fraud operation mode and immediately report to the police if has relevant information.

They can also report to KRI Task Protection at hotline 0198228800 or come to office at Batu 2.5 Jalan Sin Onn for immediate action.
