KOTA KINABALU: City Hall will render full support to the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) to organise the Chinese New Year (CNY) Carnival early next month.

Newly appointed Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said City Hall will ensure the carnival’s success.

“City Hall shall extend their assistance in security, venue safety and decoration of the stage and streets to ensure success of the event,” he said during a courtesy call by FCAS President Tan Sri TC Goh and his committee members to extend their warm congratulations to Nordin as the new Mayor.

Goh said FCAS is confident that the new Mayor will make the City more prosperous and advance in development.

The carnival will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal on Feb 1 and closed by the Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew on Feb 2.

The two-day celebrations will also include cultural shows, dancing and singing as well as fireworks display and participation of street hawkers, among others, to welcome the Chinese New Year celebration which falls on Feb 5.
