Tawau: The Gmart supermarket at Balung was 85 per cent destroyed after a fire broke out at 1am on Wednesday.According to Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, 30 personnel led by Officer Sharudy Delamin rushed to the scene with three fire engines after receiving a call at 1.28am.Upon reaching the scene, operation to extinguish the fire was carried out that ended at 8.36am.

No casualties were reported and the cause of fire is still being investigated.Meanwhile, in KUNAK, Fire and Rescue Department personnel put out a fire on a wooden pile that was burning in a former sawmill along Jalan Kunak Jaya, Tuesday night.
Its spokesperson said a team of five personnel rushed to the scene after being alarmed at 9pm. He said the team was able to control the situation from spreading to a nearby settlement in which the operation ended at 11.57pm.No casualties were reported and the source of fire is still being investigated, he added. - Lagatah Toyos
