Fighting dengue within the police
Kota Kinabalu: Besides battling crime, Sabah police will also be involving in eradicating aedes mosquito breeding through a gotong royong programme.

Special Branch Chief Datuk Suhaimi Deraman said this initiative is to ensure that there are no cases involving officers contracting dengue as there were some in 2017.

"There were 27 dengue cases (in IPK) last year comprising officers and their families staying at Desa Aman quarters.

"This event is supposed to be held simultaneously among all police contingents nationwide when initially this national event was launched on Nov 11 in Melaka but we were only able to carry out today as we have been preoccupied," he said.

He said this after launching the Mega State Level Gotong Royong 2.0 to battle aedes programme at IPK Sabah, here, Thursday.

Meanwhile at the programme, some 400 personnel involving all departments in Sabah police headquarters endured scorching heat to ensure that there are no possibilities of aedes breeding in the compound. - Jeremy S Zabala
