Lahad Datu SPCA to hold animal sterilisation drive on Jan 4-6

Lahad Datu: The Lahad Datu Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will launch animal sterilisation campaign to control various infectious diseases brought by stray animals such as dogs and cats.It's Chairman Lee Boon Keat during a briefing with Chinese Chamber of Commerce President, Tan Cheng Teng on Friday said, the campaign also aims to ensure the stray animals are under control and not endangering humans from disease including rabbies.Lee said the campaign on Jan 4 to 6, 2019 at Lahad Datu Chinese Middle School received cooperation from Tawau and Lahad Datu Veterinary Services Departments' veterinarians.ADVERTISEMENT During the campaign, he said, they will catch the animals in the areas that have been identified and inspect them to find out their health condition."The animals will be given appropriate treatment such as vaccine or will be neuter to reduce reproduction," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Following the campaign, Lee hopes members of public will provide cooperation or involve in the campaign by bringing animals in their areas for treatment at the campaign site.Lee also added that SPCA always welcome the participation of public and Non government organisations to make the campaign a success.
