Curbing drugs thru 'know your child' programme

Kudat: The Kudat National Anti-Drugs Agency is aiming to boost efforts to curb drugs in the district especially through the "Know your child" programme. The programme was organised by the National Anti-Drugs Agency Women Affairs Bureau in collaboration with the Prevention of Drug Abuse (Pemadam) and the Association of Wives and Members of the Public Service Department (Puspanita) here.Kudat Puspanita Chairperson Rosnah Kuyung said the programme is a community-based strategic partnership aimed at engaging with the government to eradicate the nation's main problem, namely substance abuse. ADVERTISEMENT Rosnah said that it also acts to educate target groups to identify and monitor the behaviour of children who are at risk of being involved in social issues especially with substance abuse. "Substance abuse is increasingly widespread not only among adults but also children and adolescents. "Recognising this fact, the Kudat National Anti-Drugs Agency plays its role and responsibility by enhancing early education through this programme to instil awareness and to foster awareness among the various communities in fighting substance abuse as early as childhood," she said. She said this when speaking at the "Know your child" workshop at the Kampung Ayer, here, recently.

Among activities featured in the workshop include explanation on the behavioural changes of children and adolescents as well as problems and solutions to solving substance abuse.
