Active bomb found in Lahad Datu

Lahad Datu: AN active mortar bomb was found about 200m from the Kampung Tanduo post, in Lahad Datu, on Sunday.

Members of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) came across the bomb while patrolling the area at about 8.30am. District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor, said a team of police officers was deployed to the scene, and upon arrival the team found that the object is an unexploded bomb believed to be from Ops Daulat in 2013. Nasri said the police bomb disposal unit was informed about the discovery and the bomb was scheduled to be defused today (Tuesday).

When contacted, Nasri also urged members of public to immediately inform the authorities if they discovered any similar devices. Photo shows police officers monitoring the area following the discovery of the bomb. – Efa Rizan
