67 Filipino illegals held in Lahad Datu

Lahad Datu: Sixty-seven Filipino illegal immigrants were detained at Tanjung Labian, near here, Tuesday morning when they tried to sneak into the country.Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) 13th Brigade Commander, Brig Jen Datuk Arman Rumaizi Ahmad, said they comprised 35 men, 13 women and 19 children aged between four and 50.

"The success is the result of patrols conducted under the Coastal Beach Op under the command of Esscom's 13th Brigade, which is the Third Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment," he said.

Arman said they also seized 17 boats, of which 16 were pump boats, valued at an estimated RM25,500. He said all the immigrants had been sent to the Lahad Datu police station for further action. - Eifa Rizan
