SYC Halloween Night Run gets tremendous response

Sandakan: Nearly 500 participated in the SYC Halloween Night Run 2018 organised by Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC).

The participants started the run at SYC in Jalan Buli Sim Sim at 6.50pm and proceeded until the traffic light junction in front of SK Sungai Anib before making a U turn back to the finishing point (SYC).

SYC Commodore Paul Wong congratulated the Organising Chairman Norman Sim and other members of the SYC general committee for the successful event.

He expressed his appreciation to the Sabah Athletics Association, Sports Commissioner, the district traffic police, Sandakan Municipal Council, Rela, St John's Ambulance and Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong for extending cooperation in organising the run.

Wong also thanked all the participants for supporting the event.


"The objectives of the run are to bring together members of Hash Group and running enthusiasts in Sandakan to foster rapport and to promote healthy lifestyle through active involvement in sports," Wong said.

The top three results of the four categories: Men's Open: 1) Hiew Kim Loi (33m31s), 2) Leng Kok Hua (33m33s) and 3) Chua Chie Yong (34m34s) Men's Veteran: 1) Lu Tong Hap (38m29s), 2) Chu Kim Lai (39m05s) and 3) Eric Chia (39m12s) Women's Open: 1) Vidia Lee (38m12s), 2) Thien Sim Yee (44m40s) and 3) Thien Vun Yien (44m58s) Women's Veteran: 1) Michelle Lee Tze Yen (42m56s), 2) Wong Kim Lan (45m49s) and 3) Wong Shok Yee (48m36s).
