Sabah waters still safe, says Mat Sabu

Tawau: Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu (pic) said the waters in Sabah are still safe and under control, judging from the many tourists who have gone to visit the smaller islands near the Philippines border.He promised to add more military muscle in Sabah, just to be on the safe side."I will increase manpower and military assets (but) will be based on the (Government's) budget. I will bring this up in the next Cabinet meeting," he said after meeting with the Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau and Tiong Hua community, here, Sunday.

Also present were the commanding officer of the 516th Regiment Territorial Army for East Coast, Tan Sri Datuk Liew Yun Fah, permanent honorary chairman of the Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau, Honorary Mejar Datuk Yong Chi Fui, and the Directors of Teck Guan Group Datuk Hong Ngit Min and Datuk Hong Kim Fah.Meanwhile, Vice-President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau, Pang Lin Khiong, highlighted the need for all the countries and governments involved to curb smuggling activities and crimes at sea.
