Former Tahfiz student in an accident wins RM3.4m in compensation

Kelantan: A tahfiz school founder, a driver and a van company were ordered by the Sessions Court here on Sunday (Sept 23) to pay RM4.3 million in compensation to an accident victim.Former tahfiz student Muhammad Faiz Hafizuddin Mohd Izahir (pic), 18, who was left permanently disabled following a road accident last year, had sued the school management for negligence.The court had ordered the three defendants, namely Maahad Tahfiz Al-Hashimi founder Datuk Adnan Hashim, van driver Muhammad Hamzi Mohammad Husham, and van company Ct-one Corporation Sdn Bhd to pay the multi-million ringgit compensation.

Judge Nazri Ismail said the compensation would cover long-term medication cost, as the plaintiff sustained head and spinal cord injuries.Counsel R. Kameswary and Mazlinda Mahmud represented plaintiff Faiz and his mother Jahsuriawany Mustapha, 46.The three defendants were not present at the court. Lawyers from Tengku Azlina, Azlan Shah and Azman law firm represented the defendants.The court found that the three defendants were "100pc responsible" for the negligence, and therefore they should pay the compensation.
