PGM Labuan Championships tees off today

Labuan: Some evergreen golfers have registered to compete in a Malaysia's prestigious Professional Golf Malaysia (PGM) Labuan Championships 2018 at the Labuan International Golf Club (LIGC) here beginning Wednesday.The four-day tournament will be held from Aug 15 to 18 with at least 40 Asian Development Tour (ADT) golfers from more than 10 countries including USA, Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Australia and Argentina set to compete.From Malaysia, a total of 30 professional golfers from the Professional Golfers Malaysia (PGM) will be competing with their foreign counterparts in the RM225,000 (approximately US$58,000) championship.

Malaysia's Ben Leong who was seen practising at the LIGC this morning is expected to have comfortable game as Labuan is no different to Sabah.The 32-year-old golfer who enjoyed four top-10 results on the Asian Development Tour in 2016, will feature alongside a talented cast of players including Indonesia's George Gandranata, 32, who won his first ADT title in Langkawi in 2016.Other contenders expected to challenge for the PGM Labuan Championship include Singapore's Johnson Poh, Bangladeshi Shakhawat Sohel and Argentina's Miguel Carballo.The PGM Labuan Championship takes place concurrently with the Taifong Open which will tee off at the Taifong Golf Course in Chinese Taipei this week.
