Stewardess dress too sexy? Look away, Loke tells PAS

Kuala Lumpur: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has advised those who felt that the uniforms of Malaysian air stewardesses were too sexy to look away.Saying matters related to dressing were subjective, Loke said one should "look away if they feel the uniform is revealing".Loke was replying to Abdullah Mat Nawi (PAS-Tumpat) who said the uniforms of Malaysian flight attendants were more revealing than those worn by their American counterparts who wore pants.

Another PAS MP, Khairuddin Aman Razali (PAS-Kuala Nerus) asked if Malaysia Airlines planned to allow Muslim air stewardesses to don the hijab.Loke said he would discuss the matter with Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB)."The ministry has no issue if Muslim flight attendants decide to wear clothes that are in line with shariah," he said, but added that it should fulfil the needs of the airline.Siti Zailah Yusoff (PAS-Rantau Panjang) asked if there were any new policies on the uniforms to which Loke replied that there were none at present.

The PAS MPs were responding to Loke who had earlier said airline companies were free to choose the uniform of their flight attendants as long they portray a good corporate image as well as suitable for carrying out emergency evacuations.

He said the Baju Kebaya worn by Malaysia Airlines stewardesses showed the Malaysian identity to travellers.
