Kota Kinabalu: More than 30 UK universities and colleges will be present at the coming UK Education Fair 2018 which will be held at Hotel Pullman on July 28 (Saturday) and Le Meridien Hotel, here, on July 29 (Sunday).Dubbed as the largest UK education fair in Borneo, both events will be from 1pm to 6pm where students, parents, teachers, lecturers and working adults are invited to attend and speak directly to representatives from the UK universities and colleges with free admission.

The participating universities and colleges include Aberystwyth University, Bellerbys College & ISC UK, University of East Anglia, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Glasgow, University of Hertfordshire, University of Huddersfield, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moore University, Northumbria University Newcastle, The University of Nottingham (UK Campus), University of Northampton, Queen's University Belfast, University of Reading (UK & Malaysia Campuses), Robert Gordon University, The University of Sheffield, University of Southampton (UK & Malaysia Campuses), University of St. Andrews, University of Sunderland, Teesside University, University College Birmingham, Brooke House College, Cardiff Sixth Form College, Concord College, Kaplan International Colleges (UK), MPW Schools and Colleges, and St. Andrew's College Cambridge.

The British Council will also be present at the event to explain about IELTS, the international English test required by most institutions in the UK.

The British Council is the joint owner of the official IELTS where students are able to take the test in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. Students who register IELTS at the event will get a free copy of "IELTS Tops Tops", published by the British Council.

The organiser reminds attending participants who are seeking for further education to bring their results/transcripts for immediate admissions and scholarship offers.

Event spokesman Gabriel Liew said the next intake for UK universities will be in September, this year, which is a good opportunity for students to obtain latest information and submit application during the event.

"Besides, students who are currently studying are encouraged to attend the education fair as well in order to plan for their further studies in 2019. Some participating institutions will waive the application fee if students apply for admissions on the spot.

"Courses available at the education fair vary from business, arts to sciences. Students will be able to obtain latest information at different education levels, from A Levels, Foundation, Diploma, Undergraduate Degree to Postgraduate Degree," he said.

Another attraction of the event is the scholarships and financial aids offered by various participating institutions.

UK education is often perceived as very costly for parents. However, with the attractive scholarships, bursaries and incentives provided by the institutions, it eases parents' burden in financing their children's further education.
