HFMD: Stop spreading news about closure of schools
Published on: Saturday, July 21, 2018

Kota Kinabalu: The State Health and People's Wellbeing Ministry through the State Health Department is monitoring the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) situation in Sabah.

Its Minister Stephen Wong Tien Fatt said there is no cause for alarm as the situation in the State is under control.

He added that closure of schools is undertaken to stop the transmission within the affected premises and for disinfection and cleaning to be carried out.

"We hope the public will stop spreading news about closure of schools if they are not from reliable sources such as the Health or Education Department as this will cause unnecessary alarm," he said in a statement, Friday.

Wong also said the State Health Department will update information from time to time on the HFMD situation in the State.
