Alor Setar: PKR Matunggong has called for Balung Assemblyman Datuk Osman Jamal's membership in the party to be revoked, saying it is not worth for PKR to be at odds over one ex-Umno member.Former PKR candidate for Matunggong, Sazalye Donol Abdullah said he and party supporters strongly object to Osman's admission to PKR.

"I wish to emphasise that if he joining the party would potentially create dissatisfaction among Sabah PKR members, then it is better for his membership to be revoked," he said in a statement.

He contended that since Parti Warisan, a partner of Pakatan Harapan in Sabah, has already rejected Osman's earlier application to join the party, any subsequent acceptance into PKR would go against the former's decision.

"And this would certainly create problems for Sabah PKR," he added.

It was reported that Osman's online application for PKR membership had been approved and confirmed by the party's Central Leadership Council (Majlis Pimpinan Pusat).

But PKR Sabah Leadership Council had insisted that the former Umno man had to apply through its secretariat in the State.

State PKR vice chairman Mohd Amin Abdul Mem recently said it was not right for Osman to bypass the State Leadership Council which enjoys full autonomy in deciding matters concerning party policies in Sabah.

He stressed that the State Leadership Council needed to look into several matters before even considering whether to accept Osman or not, one of which was his pending court case.

He also said that it needed to take into consideration the sentiment of its loyal supporters and voters who spent many years fighting against Osman's former party, Umno and the Barisan Nasional.

However, PKR Tawau secretary Gan Chee Chan had said on Monday that his side would welcome Osman with open arms.

He also said that PKR Tawau chief Datuk Kong Hong Ming was of the opinion that Osman joining the party would only strengthen it.
