Rhinos still trails behind after draw with Penang

Kota Kinabalu: Rhinos failed to close the gap on second place Felcra United after they were held 0-0 by Penang in the second round of the Premier League match at Likas Stadium Wednesday night.The match started on a slow note with both teams unable to mount any serious threats in the early stage and it was Sabah's Maxsius Musa who had the first look at goal but his effort missed the post by inches after a well taken free kick from Sabri Sahar.Youngster Hamran Peter also had a chance to open the account after a well timed lay-off by Rodoljub Paunovic but his shot also narrowly missed the target.

The best chance fell to Paunovic but Penang goalkeeper was at his best to deny him late in the first half while the visitors also had few failed attempts at goal themselves. Penang looked more dangerous in the second half and had several opportunities to take the lead but luck was not on their side and the best came after Sabah's Dendy Lowa was out injured and replaced by Evan Wensley Wenceslaus in defence.In a quick counter attack, midfielder Fittri Shazwan Raduwan found himself unmarked inside the box after receiving the ball but with only Sabah's custodian Rozaimie Rohmi to beat, he cured his shot and hit the post before going out of play.Despite desperate efforts by both teams, they were unable to unlock the deadlock and the match ended with both teams sharing a point each.
