Tuaran: Regular patients who are receiving medication from the Tuaran Hospital will no longer have to queue up as the health centre has introduced Sabah's first Medilocker or also known as Locker4U.Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Stephen Wong said the locker system is aimed to cut the waiting time for patients receiving regular medication as they would not have to line-up at the pharmacy.

"It is a new service to provide better value to patients. The Medilocker (Locker4U) is a system where patients will only need to take their medicines from their respective lockers.

"These patients will be provided with keys where they could access to get their medicines without having to be in a long waiting line at the pharmacy section," he said.

Wong said this after his official work visit to the Tuaran Hospital, here, Wednesday.

Also present were State Health Director Datuk Christina Rundi and Tuaran Hospital Director Dr G. Mohan.

Wong said that 100 lockers were provided for regular patients who are not only registered in the hospital but also receiving long-term prescription.

"Every patient who is interested and fulfils the criteria will be registered for this service.

"This comprise patients who understand their medical therapy, stable, understand the proper medication consumption and for those who require two or more types of medicines," he added.

He also said that the hospital will provide more lockers for patients if the demands for the service increases. - Jeremy S Zabala
