Guard fined for threatening to hurt wife

Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old security guard who threatened to hurt his wife with a knife was fined RM400 or eight months jail.Rahim Anni pleaded guilty before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to committing the crime against his 32-year-old wife at 11.30pm on June 24 this year in a squatter house at Kg Suang Parai, Manggatal.Requesting for a lenient sentence, counsel Jaikol Situn, who represented Rahim, told the court that the incident occurred during an argument between Rahim and his wife.ADVERTISEMENT Prior to the quarrel, Rahim had told the wife that he wanted to visit his ailing mother but the wife did not allow him to go, said Jaikol, adding that, the couple has five children.The charge against Rahim under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both on conviction.In another case, a 34-year-old housewife was charged with obstructing a policeman from discharging his duty.Khoo Shor Lang claimed trial to committing the offence at 5am on July 3 at the Rainfield Court Apartment in Penampang.ADVERTISEMENT The charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, on conviction.The court fixed July 26 for mention and released Khoo on a bail of RM2,200 in one surety.
