No vessels will be spared, vows Esscom
Lahad Datu: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) on Thursday assured that inspections are and will be done on all ships or boats, in addition to imposing legal actions against the owner, if suspected or found violating the law. Esscom Commander Datuk Hazani Ghazali gave the assurance when commenting on allegations which surfaced on social media recently.

The allegations came in the form of a photo with a caution claiming there are several boats, including fishing boats, flying a certain political flag refused to stop for the purpose of inspection by security enforcement.

"This is because they (ship owners/boats) think they are immune to the law when they carry or fly certain flags," he said in a statement, Thursday.

In this regard, Hazani advised all residents in the Esszone area to always comply with instructions from security teams to ensure public order can be maintained.

"We also hope the local community will always cooperate with the security forces and come forward to provide information that can undermine the security of the area and the waters of Esszone," he said.

The picture uploaded through WhatsApp went viral with claims that boats flying a certain party's flag was believed to have not been checked by security forces while in the Esszone waters.
