Mrt Corp to reduce mrt 2 costs

Kuala Lumpur: MRT Corp is finding ways to reduce the cost for the Mass Rapid Transit 2 (MRT2) project.Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, who met with the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) on Friday, said both parties exchanged ideas on reducing the cost for MRT2, which has a budgeted construction cost of RM32 billion."Basically, we are working on something with the CEP. We are having a chat on ways to reduce the cost further, particularly for line 2," he told reporters at Menara Ilham.

Shahril said while no specific figures were mentioned by the CEP, the meeting was fruitful, and now MRT Corp's is responsible for the reduction. He reiterated the MRT3 project has been shelved for now.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The first phase of the MRT 2 project, also known as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) line, which runs from Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Baru is expected to be completed by July 2021.The second phase, which goes all the way to Putrajaya, is scheduled for a July 2022 completion. – Bernama
