Kota Kinabalu: Embattled former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has given up his home base by declining to defend his Libaran Umno division chief post in the upcoming party polls. The surprise move comes after Musa and his former ally Datuk Juslie Ajirol and political rival Datuk Akbar Khan Abdulrahman were nominated to contest the position that Musa has held since the 1990s. Sabah Umno executive secretary Datuk Kadzim Yahya, when contacted Thursday, confirmed that Musa had declined the nomination. ADVERTISEMENT On whether a letter withdrawing the nomination was submitted by Musa, Kadzim said, "All correspondence is done directly with the Umno headquarters". The Sungai Sibuga assemblyman has, however, been remotely carrying out various legal actions through his lawyers in absentia. The former Sabah strongman is claiming to be the rightful chief minister after the May 9 general election. He is disputing the May 12 appointment of Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as Chief Minister by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin. ADVERTISEMENT Musa is being sought to assist the police in a report lodged for alleged criminal intimidation against Tun Juhar on May 10, and also by graft investigators for alleged assemblyman buying.
