Illegal racing: Biker is fined

Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old was fined RM800 or spend four months in prison for participating in illegal motorcycle racing.Mohd Sharizan Roslan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Afiq Agoes, Wednesday.Sharizan had took part in the illegal racing at 3.30am on Nov 12, 2017 along Jalan Kapayan, here.

The offence under Section 81(3) of the Road Transport Act carries a jail term of up to six months, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.The court heard that Sharizan was detained during Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted along the road.Investigation revealed that Sharizan had participated in the illegal racing which could pose a danger to other road users.In the same court, four men were fined for riding their motorcycles without licences.

They were Mohd Nuhafiz Sabiran, 23, Jainal Ismail, 29, Jekrin Junaidi, 29, and Jimbun Puntah, 55.Jimbun was fined RM700 or a month's jail while the rest were fined RM500 in default a month's jail each.

They were found riding their motorcycles without licences along Jalan Tun Fuad between Jan 16 and Feb 20 this year.Mohd Nuhafiz was also fined another RM300 fine or a month's jail for riding his motorcycle without insurance coverage.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, another three men were fined for drink-driving.Clinton Moureen, 26, was fined RM1,500 in default four months' jail, Pang Tze Kyun, 34, was fined RM1,400 or four months' jail and Fong Kai Lip, 24, was fined RM1,200 or four months behind bars for driving under the influence of alcohol.
