Chong Wei trounced by Lin Dan

Kuala Lumpur: Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong on Friday (early today Malaysia time) lost out to their challengers in the quarterfinal of the All England Open 2018 in Birmingham ending their quest for the respective titles. Defending champion Chong Wei was trounced 16-21, 17-21 in 52 minutes by his traditional rival Lin Dan of China, according to bwf.tournamentsoftware.com.

In the semifinal, Lin Dan will face teammate Huang Yuxiang who beat H. S Prannoy of India in a gruelling game that ended 22-20, 16-21, 21-23.

China's Chen Long was also ousted by teammate Shi Yuqi, 10-21, 17-21.

Meanwhile, V Shem-Wee Kiong gave the game to Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in a straight set 20-22, 11-21 within 43 minutes.

Boe-Mogensen will meet Hiroyuki Endo-Yuta Watanabe of Japan in the semifinal.
